Description Cantus I is based on a Byzantine chant composed by Petros Lampadarios from Peloponnesus,
one of the most important figures of the meta-Byzantine period, that lived between 1730 and 1778.

Cantus I was commissioned and first performed by the Dutch duo "De Watertoren".
